Olympic Legacy! Langport Junior Runners Get a Boost!
Thanks to a grant from Somerset County Council’s Health and Wellbeing Scheme, the junior branch of Langport Runners can get fit with some new equipment and enjoy new winter training facilities.

Langport Runners Junior Athletic Club is delighted to announce that from Monday 7th January 2013, they will be moving to a new base at Huish Leisure Centre for the winter months.

The Club will have the use of a floodlit outdoor all weather area, or the Academy Gymnasium with some new equipment in the case of bad weather. The training aims to develop athletic abilities and skills in a fun and enjoyable way, and in a safe environment. There will also be opportunities for longer training runs.

Jane Brookhouse, Chair of the Langport Running Club, said ‘We are delighted to be able to offer young athletes some better facilities in partnership with Huish Leisure Centre over the winter. In this way, the Club will be making a significant contribution to the London 2012 Olympic Legacy by encouraging more youngsters to enjoy and benefit from the sport of athletics by offering a better quality training scheme. The Club is very grateful for the support of Cllr. Derek Yeomans in making the application for the grant’.

Prospective new members and parents are always welcome to visit training sessions before joining.
