Countdown. Days to go.

Nicky-   36 days till the MDS start. Still needs/deserves more sponsors.
Training in South Africa whilst on holiday for a "break!"

Training normally requires carrying a 20k backpack. MDS official web site recommends:
Your rucksack should not, therefore, exceed a weight of 9 kg for 17,500 Kcal, i.e. 4.8 kg of food and 4.2 kg in equipment weight.
Ideally you should aim to get close to 8 kg for 17,000 Kcal, i.e. 4.4 kg of food and 3.6 kg in equipment weight.

Mel -  53 days to London Marathon start.

Training schedule requires steady build up in distance. Now around the 11 miles mark.

Pete- 91 days to Forces March start.

Training is based on running  half marathon distances sometimes twice in one day.

Don't forget to use the link box at the right hand side of the Blog to go to more information on each challenge.

The Forces March

This Blog was started when we realised the tremendous training effort Nicky was making in preparation for the MDS and that is continuing. We also knew that Mel was aiming to raise money for a great cause by running her first London Marathon. Mel's training includes running the Hestercombe Humdinger 9.5 mile race this weekend on the 20th on a quite tough and hilly route.
Meanwhile Pete Jones had entered the Forces March and I'm adding his personal challenge as well. To find out more about it click here. As you will see Pete has to run 5 marathons in 5 days. I hope to keep track of their efforts leading up to the start date and hopefully it will be of interest for the press as well. More details later.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page,as you probably know running the London Marathon has been an ambition of mine for a long time!
Having been rejected many times I have finally got my coveted place and am going to put my all into achieving my dream.
I have chosen to support SSAFA as they have been a great source of support over the years to our family whilst Richard as been abroad with the Royal Navy serving our country and I feel they deserve recognition.
Please give whatever you can,no amount is too small.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to SSAFA. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
Thank you, your support and donation will help me though the months of training I have ahead of me and on the big day itself...
My mantra for the next few months- "Determination is everything"

Good luck Mel. I'll try to find out how training is going? Send me an email Mel.
